(1) Einkünfte, die eine in einem Vertragsstaat ansässige Per-
son aus einem freien Beruf oder aus sonstiger selbständiger
Tätigkeit bezieht, können nur in diesem Staat besteuert werden,
es sei denn, dass dieser Person im anderen Vertragsstaat für
die Ausübung ihrer Tätigkeit gewöhnlich eine feste Einrichtung
zur Verfügung steht. Steht ihr eine solche feste Einrichtung zur
Verfügung, so können die Einkünfte im anderen Staat besteuert
werden, jedoch nur insoweit, als sie dieser festen Einrichtung
zugerechnet werden können.
English
(1) Income derived by a resident of a Contracting State in
respect of professional services or other activities of an inde-
pendent character shall be taxable only in that State unless he
has a fixed base regularly available to him in the other Contract-
ing State for the purpose of performing his activities. If he has
such a fixed base, the income may be taxed in the other State
but only so much of it as is attributable to that fixed base.
(2) Der Ausdruck „freier Beruf“ umfasst insbesondere die
selbständig ausgeübte wissenschaftliche, literarische, künstle-
rische, erzieherische oder unterrichtende Tätigkeit sowie die
selbständige Tätigkeit der Ärzte, Zahnärzte, Rechtsanwälte,
Ingenieure, Architekten und Buchsachverständigen.

independent scientific, literary, artistic, educational or teaching
activities as well as the independent activities of physicians,
