(2) Dieses Abkommen tritt am Tage nach dem Aus-
tausch der Ratifikationsurkunden in Kraft und ist anzu-
wenden:
a) in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland auf die Steuern, die
für den Veranlagunyszeitraum 1970 und die folgenden
Veranlagungszeiträume erhoben werden;
b) in Liberia auf die Steuern, die für das Steuerjahr 1970
und für die folgenden Steuerjahre erhoben werden;
in beiden Vertragstaaten auf die im Abzugsweg er-
c
hobenen Steuern von Dividenden, Zinsen und Lizenz-
gebühren, die nach dem 31. Dezember 1969 gezahlt
werden.

(2) This Agreement shall enter into force on the day
after the date of exchange of the instruments of ratifica-
tion and shall have effect: ,
a) in the Federal Republic of Germany in respect of
taxes which are levied for the assessment period 1970
and for subsequent assessment periods;
b
in Liberia in respect of taxes which are levied for
the taxable year 1970 and for subsequent taxable
years;
c) in both Contracting States in respect of taxes withheld
at source on dividends, interest and royalties paid
after 31 December 1969.
